Overview

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.


Responsibilities

Ensures the proper operation and maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment, distribution lines for steam, hot water, plumbing, electricity refrigeration, sanitation for hospital and Medical Office buildings. Responds rapidly to emergency situations, including fire, and disruptions of above stated utilities. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy.

  • Accurately takes readings and makes mechanical round checks within allocated time frame. Reports any discrepancies immediately to supervisor.
  • Completes preventative maintenance work orders per standard indicated on work order.
  • Operate and maintain electrical power distribution under normal or emergency conditions.
  • Operate and maintain water distribution systems and respond appropriately to emergency conditions.
  • Respond appropriately to the disruption of specific communication system failures. Fire Alarm; Nurse Call; Code Blue, Overhead Paging; etc
  • Maintain Medical Gas systems and respond appropriately to any disruptions.
  • Operate and maintain boilers or other heat/steam generation systems.
  • Operate and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Accurately record all personal activities directly related to the operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment under the responsibility of the Engineering Department
  • Correctly interpret and implement codes, rules, regulations and protocols that govern the safe operation of healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4 years (with 2 years in a hospital setting) building engineering and maintenance experience. Applicants with 4 years of building engineering and maintenance experience may be considered when staffing allows for training.
  • Universal CFC Certification
  • Valid CA Driver license with no moving violations or accidents within the last 2 years
  • Current car insurance

Special Skills:

Maintains and repairs the following equipment and associated systems: Boiler systems and related equipment, HVAC systems and related equipment, Pneumatic controls, Emergency generators and related equipment, Electrical distribution systems, Water supply and drainage systems, Miscellaneous building equipment and systems, Physical structures of facilities, Medical Gas systems and related equipment, Fire Alarm systems and related equipment, Nurse Call and other communication systems. Fork Lift experience.
